Computop receives PCI security certificate

The Computop Paygate complies with strong security rules of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security standard of Visa and MasterCard. The PCI certificate affirms the technical as well as the organisational security at Computop. On the one hand Paygate users obtain a secure payment platform. On the other hand the Computop Paygate offers smart solutions to avoid the PCI certification of your own systems.

The PCI security certification concerns every call centre, web shop and vendor who offers credit card payments. In order to avoid credit card fraud Visa and MasterCard demand the security certification of everyone who accepts, forwards or stores credit card data. The costs of the PCI certification amount to up to 15.000 Euro every year. Even more severe than the external costs is the effort on the merchants side which amounts to up to 50 man days yearly.

The easiest solution to avoid your own PCI certification is to use standard Paygate forms. Instead of storing credit card data in your shop the customer enters his credit card data directly in Computop Paygate forms. Only the transaction result will be transferred to your system. All credit card data will only be stored at the Computop Paygate. In order to fit the Paygate forms into your shop layout and your Corporate Design you can change the layout of Paygate forms with our Corporate PayPage option based on XML/XSLT.

In order to offer the best service to your customers we recommend to use Paygate Pseudo Card Numbers (PCN). In this case the Computop Paygate transmits a 16 digit Pseudo Card Number which you can store in your system and use it for recurring payments. Therefore your customer does not need to rekey his card number with every purchase any more. As the last three digits of our PCN are identical with the real card number your customers and call centres can easily identify and choose between different credit cards.
